  Click here to see daily temperature readings for this year from bottom of hot water cylinder. The readings are taken each evening. Temperature at bottom of cylinder is used as it is only influenced by solar gain, heat exchanger from boiler is two thirds of way up cylinder(see picture).

  Amazingly we had a reading of 35 deg C on the roof in December when the tubes have been covered in snow.

The gas bill of just 57 pence for the 3 months over the summer was for one unit of gas. This was used by the gas hob in the kitchen as the boiler was not needed to heat any water
