and stores heat using the Intelligent Octopus Go time of use tariff which gives a very cheap rate for 6 hours overnight and occasionally at other times. The heat is then released during the day when required by the heating programmer and thermostat. Just 5% of charging done on the peak rate over the 22/23 winter.

This system works happily with the microbore pipe work to the radiators as the flow temperature can be set by the user from 35C up to 80C ( I run it at 47C), so can be the same as the gas boiler had been and radiators don't need changing, unlike a heat pump which would potentially have required a lot of work to replace pipework and radiators. But in August 2024 I replaced 6 single panels rads with doubles (type 22 radiators) and it has made a big difference to the heating output in these rooms
