This page gives some details and electricity usage of the Zero Emissions boiler (ZEB) which replaced the gas boiler for the central heating in our home in Aug 2022 ![]() The ZEB is made by Tepeo and stores heat using the Intelligent Octopus Go time of use tariff which gives a very cheap rate for 6 hours overnight and occasionally at other times. The heat is then released during the day when required by the heating programmer and thermostat. Just 5% of charging done on the peak rate over the 22/23 winter. This system works happily with the microbore pipe work to the radiators as the flow temperature can be set by the user from 35C up to 80C ( I run it at 47C), so can be the same as the gas boiler had been and radiators don't need changing, unlike a heat pump which would potentially have required a lot of work to replace pipework and radiators. But in August 2024 I replaced 6 single panels rads with doubles (type 22 radiators) and it has made a big difference to the heating output in these rooms The graph on electricity usage can be seen below and will be updated weekly, below that is the monthly totals for kWh and cost. ![]() ![]() Top |
